Temperature and heat required for inactivation of microorganisms.

| Giardia species | 60 C for 10 minutes ( 98% inactivation) |
| 70 C for 10 minutes (100% inactivation) | |
| Cryptosporidium species | 70 C for 10 minutes (100% inactivation) |
| 64 C within 2 minutes | |
| E. coli,salmonella,shigella & campylobacter species | 65 C for 3 minutes |
| Vibrio cholerae | 60 C for 10 minutes |
| E. coli | 60 C for 5 minutes |
| Enteric viruses | 56-60 C for 2 |
