The Danish International Development Agency (DANIDA) is the Danish state agency that is centrally placed to establish and manage the Danish development cooperation priorities. A number of crosscutting themes are built into DANIDA's development assistance: women's participation in development, the environment, promotion of democracy and observation of human rights. These crosscutting themes are integrated into DANIDA's development activities more generally.

One of the programmes established by Danida is the Sector Programme Support (SPS).DANIDA Sector Programme Support seeks to build within the recipient country ownership of development programmes and activities. This means that the recipient country must finance an increasingly larger proportion of efforts. The SPS process, and its goal, also requires donors to coordinate their activities and base efforts on recipient countries' sector plans and strategies. Crosscutting themes such as human rights and the role of women in development are addressed specifically within the SPS.

Southern Trident, has established a Black Economic Empowerment (BEE) Program manufacturing facility in Uitenhage, Eastern Cape, South Africa with strong help from DANIDA's PS program.
