Daily use of Aquasafe in Kwanta village, Ghana

The woman in the picture to the left is a kenkey seller in Nkwanta village, Ghana. "Kenkey" is a local Ghanaian specialty.
Before the use of Aquasafe she always had to boil water for drinking, since the water was fetched from an untreated water source.
When boiling, she used firewood and so she constantly had to check the fire which would interrupt her work, either causing delay or causing her to become more tired at the end of the day.
With Aquasafe, all she has to do is to put the bottles in the unit and leave them in the sun for as long as she is working. Her grandchild can also use the Aquasafe and the little girl demonstrates that even children can help to use the Aquasafe unit.
The little girl in the picture to the right is checking the bottle to see if the wax has melted in the wapi. She puts it back because it is not ready or hasn’t melted yet and she re-adjusts the unit to get maximum sun effect.
This picture shows that the unit is user-friendly and that little education is needed by people in order to use the unit. The pictograms from Southern Trident are enough for people to know how it works.
